Never Be Greedy (A Short Story in English)

In a forest lived a lion, on the bank of a river. He had grown old. Because of old-age he had become weak and feeble. His teeth had fallen. His nails and claws had grown weak. He could not even run. Now, he was incapable to hunt for himself also) He had a bracelet of gold. Whenever a traveller used to pass by the river, the lion used to say, "Hey, brother, come near me, I have a gold bracelet. I want to donate that bracelet to you. Now, I have become a saint in old age. Have faith in me." But not even a single traveller believed him and all of them, continued their own journey.

One day, a person was passing by the river. The moment the lion saw that person he said to him, "Brother, quickly take a bath in this river and come near me, I will give you this gold bracelet. My time has come to an end and I am going to die. Before dying I want to donate this bracelet of gold to you. That person was greedy. He thought that the lion would give him the gold bracelet. He went near the river. The moment that person stepped into the river to take a bath he got entrapped into the mire. The lion seeing that man entrapped in mud felt very happy at heart. He said to that person, "You don't worry at all, I will come and take you out of the mire." Saying this, the lion slowly reached near that person, killed and ate him. It is true that one should never be greedy but be satisfied with what you have.
